Job Summary
Engineer – Nuclear Plant Support Equipment role delivering design tasks for plant support equipment across the full lifecycle (concept to delivery) for Rolls-Royce SMR. You will contribute calculations, CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation; define equipment requirements; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated solutions; participate in design reviews and regulatory compliance activities; and consider installation, maintenance, and decommissioning in through-life planning. Requires a Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) and experience in design engineering within complex or regulated industries. Hybrid working available with locations in Derby, Manchester, or Warrington.
Required Qualifications
- Degree, HND, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience in design engineering, ideally within complex or regulated industries
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with ambiguity
- Experience producing technical documentation such as calculations, drawings, or reports
- Understanding of mechanical design principles and familiarity with CAD tools
- Exposure to regulated or safety-critical industries (advantageous)
- Awareness of engineering lifecycle processes including verification and validation
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory environments (beneficial)
- Proactive mindset with attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
