Job Summary
Validate firmware for new storage controller builds by defining test plans and developing automated scripts using Python and industry-standard tools. Coordinate automated tests within a continuous integration environment leveraging software simulation and FPGA platforms. Prioritize failures, submit bug reports, and support development teams in isolating issues. Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency and test coverage by applying AI-enabled ways of working, utilizing approved tools like Microsoft Copilot and Claude Code to accelerate development and generate insights from validation data. Requires extensive embedded firmware validation experience, Python proficiency, and knowledge of storage interfaces including PCIe/NVMe and NAND flash. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering required.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and extensive experience with embedded firmware validation
- Expertise in the use of scripting languages, programming tools, and environments
- Extensive programming experience in Python
- Experience in the storage industry in SSD, HDD, storage systems, or a related technology
- Understanding of storage interfaces including ideally PCIe/NVMe, SATA, or SAS
- Experience with NAND flash and other non-volatile storage
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal daily oversight
- Capacity to operate in a cross-functional team environment while managing several priorities simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to use AI-powered tools and assistants (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent technologies) to enhance engineering productivity, software development, automation, data analysis, and reporting
- Understanding of AI-enabled ways of working, including effective prompting, AI-assisted problem solving, and automation of engineering workflows
- Ability to evaluate AI-generated outputs, apply human judgment and validation, and use AI solutions responsibly in accordance with Micron policies and governance requirements
- Commitment to continuous learning and development of AI proficiency to support Micron's AI transformation initiatives
- At least a Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, along with knowledge of hardware
Desired Qualifications
- Working experience on I2C, SPI, and SMBUS protocols is desirable
- Good to have knowledge on Jenkins
