Job Summary
Mechanical or Chemical Engineer opportunities at Devonport Royal Dockyard require delivering design tasks within a Nuclear Engineering Group, authoring design documentation, CAD modeling, and providing technical advice to ensure compliance with nuclear regulations and pressure system standards. Roles involve leading or contributing to multi-engineer teams, developing designs through the full lifecycle, and supporting testing, commissioning, temperature and chemistry control, and radioactive waste handling, with a minimum on-site presence of 3 days/week in Plymouth and hybrid working arrangements. Candidates should have experience in mechanical, chemical, or process engineering, piping/pressure systems knowledge, and familiarity with regulated environments; a minimum HNC is required, with bachelor-level qualifications and professional registration preferred for senior roles; security clearance (SC) is required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum HNC in relevant engineering discipline
- Degree qualification and professional registration with a relevant engineering institution preferred for more senior positions
- Experience in mechanical, chemical or process engineering
- Knowledge of piping/pressure systems and components
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry
- Knowledge of engineering regulations and standards
- Understanding of the full design lifecycle
- Experience in CAD, component engineering simulation, system fluid flow analysis, or nuclear plant design is advantageous
- Security Clearance
- Ability to work onsite in Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth (hybrid)
