Job Summary
Researches, designs, and develops mechanical products and systems for production, transmission, and energy use; supports shipboard structural modifications, fabrication of equipment foundations, corrosion evaluation/mitigation, and verification of design compliance; prepares technical reports/analyses and presents recommendations to management and external customers; interfaces with NAVSEA, Electric Boat, and internal teams to coordinate design/testing and resolve technical issues; provides on-site engineering support for alignment, fit-up, welding, and dimensional control; requires ABET-accredited Bachelor's in engineering and 2 years of relevant experience (Master’s with 0 years acceptable); travel not required; no relocation or telework eligibility; U.S. Citizenship may be required for certain positions; shift: 1st; location at NN Shipbuilding sites in Goose Creek and Charleston Operations, SC.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 2 years of relevant exempt experience OR Master’s Degree with 0 years of experience
- U.S. Citizenship may be required for certain positions
- Nice to Have: Experience with NDT standards and welding standards
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Six Sigma and/or Lean training/certification
- Ability to interface with NAVSEA and external customers
- On-site engineering support for field issues
- Review and certify mechanical procedures and documentation
- Experience with shipboard structural modifications and corrosion evaluation/mitigation
