Engineer - Lighting Safety Testing

Job Summary
Conduct independent safety testing and evaluation of lighting products against U.S., Canadian, and international standards while reading schematics and manufacturing instructions. Set up and operate test equipment including spectrum analyzers, environmental chambers, and surge generators to perform core tests for rating, leakage current, and mechanical hazards. Validate project scope, manage sample handling procedures, and communicate test results and project status to clients and management. Mentor less senior technical personnel and provide sales support by attending client visits and supplying information for quotes. Perform field labeling jobs and adhere to safety practices while traveling up to 25% of the time.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Ability to travel as business needs dictate, up to 25%
- A valid driver's license and reliable driving record
- Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
- Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
- Must be customer focused and quality driven
- Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
- HVAC experience
- Engineer in Training (EIT)
- Prior project management experience
- Experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC
