Job Summary
Engineer in Training (EIT) for Operations Coordination at AESO; responsibilities include creating operational plans for AESO System Controllers based on power flow, dynamic stability, and voltage stability studies; performing operational studies and providing guidance during unplanned system events; on-call after-hours operations engineering support; conducting system studies to support transmission development projects; developing and maintaining operational power system models and analytic applications; participating in the development and implementation of operating policies; collaborating with AESO and external peers to exchange and interpret system information; producing operational reports for internal and external agencies; requires a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, eligibility to register with APEGA as a P.Eng., NERC certification is an asset, and at least two years of system analysis experience; experience with PSS/E, TSAT, VSAT, Python, Pi-ProcessBook, and Excel is a plus; location in Calgary with hybrid work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Eligible to register with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
- NERC certification is an asset
- Minimum of two years of system analysis experience in either operational or planning domains
- Experience with power system analysis principles
- Experience in conducting power flow, dynamic stability and voltage stability studies using software such as PSS/E, TSAT, and VSAT
- Experience with Python, Pi-ProcessBook, and Excel is an asset
