Job Summary
Engineer-In-Training III role on the Infrastructure team in Decatur, GA, under supervision assists in directing project office operations including construction inspection and material testing to ensure compliance with project plans, approved shop/working drawings, and specifications. Responsibilities include applying engineering principles to highway construction, performing calculations, researching and solving engineering-related activities, preparing and reviewing reports, serving as lead worker for less experienced staff, observing and testing materials for project compliance, ensuring safe handling of documents and tools, updating supervisors on progress, meeting project deadlines, submitting testing/inspection reports, reviewing plans and drawings, and participating in health & safety programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering accredited by ABET (EAC/ABET)
- Minimum of three (3) years engineering-related experience in transportation engineering (substitution allowed for graduate education)
- Engineer-In-Training certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, principles, practices, and methods
- Familiarity with manuals such as MUTCD or National Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (NPUTCD/MUTCD) as applicable
- Willingness to perform field inspections and testing as part of project work
- Strong communication and reporting skills
