Job Summary
Review and interpret bridge plans, specs, and technical reports to identify discrepancies for inspection and construction teams. Conduct basic inspections of bridge construction and rail infrastructure to verify compliance with design documents and report findings. Interpret drawings to ensure regulatory compliance, prepare summary reports detailing site conditions and contractor activities, and coordinate project documentation including technical reports and memos. Perform structural evaluations using multiple software platforms and develop preliminary details using CAD software. Work conditions involve climbing high bridge structures and working from aerial access equipment. Limited national travel of up to 1-2 days per week is required for field inspections and trainings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 2 years relevant engineering experience
- Master's in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 1 year relevant engineering experience
- Required skills: bridge-related projects
- Must undergo background checks incl drug screen
- Must undergo MV Record check
- Must undergo security BGC for e-RAILSAFE
- Must undergo TWIC
- Must be available for limited national travel up to 1-2 days per week
- Must be available for 25-49% of time dedicated to field inspections & trainings
- Must be able to climb on high bridge structures
- Must be able to work from aerial access equipment
- Must be able to work from walkways/platforms at high elevation
