Job Summary
Design blast patterns, generate loading instructions, and determine optimal blast timing to maximize coal recovery and waste rock fragmentation. Collaborate with mine operations, engineering, survey, and geology teams to efficiently design drill patterns and manage design files on digital systems. Support on-site nitrate management initiatives and implement standard methodologies related to drilling and blasting while adhering to health and safety programs. Participate in a 4x4 day shift schedule within the Elk Valley of British Columbia. This Engineer-in-Training role offers rotation into other engineering team roles as the candidate builds experience toward their P.Eng application.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, or similar relevant field
- Registered, or eligible to register as an Engineer-in-Training with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia
- Basic digital literacy and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical, logistical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize demands in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen
- Willingness to provide three professional references
- Ability to work a 4x4 day shift schedule

- Exposure to the DABS System
- Exposure to mine design software, particularly MinePlan3D
