Job Summary
Engineer-in-Training – Traffic for the Public Infrastructure department. The successful candidate will assist senior staff on traffic and safety analysis, development of conceptual and final design plans, pavement marking, signage, and signal plans, technical specifications, and estimates; design and feasibility reports; field data collection; and proposal and presentation assistance, working closely with other civil engineering disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects. Requires a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering; EIT preferred; internship or 1-4 years’ experience; experience with AutoCAD and Synchro; familiarity with MUTCD, HCM, HSM, and AASHTO; MassDOT standards. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree – Civil Engineering
- Relevant internship or 1-4 years’ experience of progressive responsibility in Traffic Engineering
- EIT preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD and Synchro preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office, HCS, and Vissim a plus
- Familiarity MUTCD, HCM, HSM, and AASHTO a plus
- Experience with MassDOT standards and deliverables a plus
- Ability to work in team environment as an individual contributor
- Organized and able to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently across multiple projects and deliverables
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to utilize critical thinking, judgment, and experience to define, analyze, and resolve issues
