Job Summary
Engineer-In-Charge at NYC Department of Design and Construction to coordinate and supervise a team of Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, Inspectors, and Junior Engineers; conduct constructability reviews to minimize delays; ensure accurate project data and reporting; generate cost proposals and participate in contract price negotiations; evaluate design/modification options; attend pre-alignment meetings; act as on-site Agency representative coordinating with public and private sector stakeholders; develop and train staff; requires ACI Concrete Field-Testing and OSHA 10 certifications and full-time work authorization in the U.S.
Required Qualifications
- Permanent in the Associate Project Manager title or eligibility via DDC Promotional Exam #3573 or Open Competitive Exam #3110
- One year of full-time satisfactory experience supervising employees in project management or supervising a construction project with value of $1,000,000 or more (as part of a path to Associate Project Manager)
- Baccalaureate degree in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration, plus one year of project-management experience; OR high school diploma/equivalent plus five years of project-management experience as described; OR higher combination of education/experience to meet five years total
- U.S. citizenship or right to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship provided)
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing and OSHA 10-hour Certification or ability to attend the first available DDC training session
- Possession of or ability to obtain professional engineer, registered architect, or registered landscape architect license (preferred within role)

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; DDC does not sponsor visas (no OPT/STEM, H-1B, etc.)
