Engineer III - Traffic

Job Summary
Conduct engineering planning, design, and analysis for traffic projects, producing calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications that require minimal revision. Evaluate design alternatives and recommend solutions while coordinating with project managers, multidisciplinary teams, and external agencies to support delivery and incorporate review comments. Prepare traffic design plans for intersections, signing, striping, and pavement markings, and perform operational, safety, or impact-related studies. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer. Manage assigned tasks independently to meet deadlines and participate in quality control and assurance practices. Work Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm with overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program
- Minimum of 2 years of professional engineering experience performing progressively responsible engineering work
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT/EI) certification
- Working knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and applicable codes and regulations relevant to assigned service areas
- Ability to apply established engineering practices and exercise sound judgment on moderately complex assignments
- Proficiency with relevant engineering software and tools
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and external agencies
- Ability to manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, and work under general supervision
- Willingness to work primarily in an office environment with periodic field work, site visits, meetings, or agency coordination as required
- Ability to work Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm with overtime as needed
