Job Summary
NOC Engineer III responsible for training the Network Operations Center and serving as the escalation SME 24/7 to resolve complex voice/data issues. Will maintain and update the knowledgebase, create/maintain training documentation, and work with 3rd party vendors to drive issues to resolution. Requires strong troubleshooting, clear communication, project management, and ability to work independently or on a team in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Visio and network documentation is essential, as is experience with hardware/software upgrades and hands-on support across data, voice, and transport disciplines. The role includes on-call duties and cross-functional collaboration with Network Planning, Product Management, and Operations teams. Education/ Certifications: engineering degree or equivalent + 5+ years of relevant experience; vendor certifications preferred.
Required Qualifications
- College degree in Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years professional level experience in network operations or related engineering/technical role
- Experience in a Tier 2/3 network operations support role
- Experience with data/voice network technologies and associated elements
- Vendor certifications preferred (BTI, Cisco, Ciena, Adtran, Juniper, Fortinet, VeloCloud)
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work on-call and respond to escalations
- Experience with VISIO and network documentation tooling
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS) and networking concepts
- Experience with VoIP/SIP/GR-303/SS7/TDM concepts
- Ability to train others and create/update training materials
