Job Summary
Conduct transmission and distribution protection analysis, substation planning, design, specifications, procurement, and commissioning under the general direction of the Manager, Asset Management. Interpret one-lines, three-lines, schematic diagrams, wiring, and connection diagrams while utilizing technical test equipment to oversee associated data and results. Manage project fiscal control, reporting, and closing where applicable. Provide engineering oversight and technical assistance to area field personnel while ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Collaborate with other engineers and departments to develop solutions per system needs. Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, five years of T&D experience, and a Maine driver's license. Work hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with extra hours required.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- Five years of T&D or Electrical Engineering
- Maine driver's license
- Position requires identity verification and seven-year criminal background check with update at least every seven years pursuant to NERC standards
- Understanding one-lines, three-lines, schematic diagrams, wiring and connection diagrams
- Understanding of applicable standards and regulations per specific focus area of Electrical Engineering
- Understanding basic electrical theory and the application to a Power Utility
- Ability to develop solutions per system needs
- Able to deal with ambiguity, among multiple projects and competing priorities
- Position requires sitting, standing, driving, and walking on uneven terrain
- Routine work outside required
- Position requires concentration and strong organizational skills
- Usual work hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Extra hours are required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with PC based software including excel spreadsheets preferred
