Job Summary
Engineer II Systems (HPC Engineer) at Microchip Technology Inc. Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing clustered HPC systems and develop strategies to enhance performance, scalability, and utilization. Serve as a primary technical contact for HPC end users, providing guidance on running simulations and promoting best practices across the user community. Design, write, and maintain software to drive, tune, and monitor EDA workloads within the HPC grid. Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation related to HPC infrastructure and EDA workflows. Research emerging software and systems technologies to support recommendations and purchasing decisions. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure secure, stable, and optimized HPC operations. Travel time up to 25% (0-25%).
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2.5 - 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or High-Performance Computing
- Hands-on experience with HPC system software and cluster management tools (LSF, SGE, RTDA, or similar)
- Strong proficiency with Unix/Linux operating systems and file systems
- Programming/scripting skills (Bash, Perl, Python, Tcl, and/or C/C++)
- Experience with EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens)
- Familiarity with Machine Learning/AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow)
- Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
