Engineer II or Engineer III - Grid Operations

Job Summary
Model and simulate the electric distribution grid using SCADA and ADMS applications to enable real-time monitoring, analysis, and control for Distribution Control Center operations. Develop and maintain scripts in Python, PowerShell, Perl, and C# that interact with various data sources, while creating, validating, and testing data models that represent grid devices and substation operations. Troubleshoot and resolve data and application issues within DSCADA and ADMS systems, contributing to continuous improvement of model data quality and system reliability. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and sketches related to modeling logic and system configurations, collaborating with operations, IT, and engineering teams to support integrated grid applications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering obtained from an ABET accredited program, OR a master's degree in Engineering in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Minimum of two (2) years of engineering experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of engineering experience
Desired Qualifications
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
- Passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
- Experience in the utility industry
- Experience creating scripts utilizing programming language and tools (python, power shell, PERL, C#, etc.)
- Experience working with relational databases (MySQL, Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, etc...)
- Experience working with graphical design tools to create UI content (single-line displays, data tabulars, etc.)
- Experience working in an operational environment with emphasis on problem isolation and resolution
- Knowledge of Distribution Control Center and Grid Management processes
- Knowledge of DMS/SCADA/OMS systems and their data models
- Understanding electrical distribution substation and field device operations characteristics and functional checkout
- Proficient in engineering theories and principles
- Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in principles of project management
