Job Summary
Lead procurement, design, manufacture, test, and delivery of the Main Propulsion Motor for the Columbia Class submarine's electric drive propulsion system. Provide oversight and direction of shipyard construction and test activities, including assembly procedures and troubleshooting. Participate in technical discussions with vendors, prime contractors, and Navy customers while reviewing internal documentation to ensure specification compliance. Manage component development and provide programmatic support to suppliers, including oversight at vendor facilities and the Philadelphia compatibility test facility. This role requires travel to Quonset Point, Groton, and Philadelphia on an as-needed basis.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in an engineering discipline
- 0-4 years of post-graduate engineering experience
- Current DOD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance
- U.S. citizenship
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- highly motivated
- Experience working successfully both in a team environment and independently
- Project management skills with a working knowledge of the principles of analytical problem-solving techniques
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of technical drawing interpretation and GD&T
- Familiar with standard operating and/or test procedure development
- Knowledge of component integration to ship structures
- Operations/construction support experience
- Experience in submarine electronics or mechanical system development, integration, installation and test
- travel to Quonset Point (RI), Groton (CT), the Philadelphia (PA) compatibility test facility, and supplier facilities may be required on an as needed basis (10%)
