Job Summary
Design substations using applicable codes and client standards, including general arrangement, equipment layouts, elevation views, cable trenches, grounding, conduit drawings, and bills of material. Perform engineering calculations for AC and DC loads, bus spans, and ampacity, while creating equipment specifications for procurement and cost estimates. Complete conceptual designs for facility planning studies and ground grids using industry software. Direct or participate in client meetings and job site visits to collect and deliver design data, ensuring all packages follow company QA/QC processes. This role supports projects from concept through construction for a leading power solutions firm serving utilities, data centers, and government clients.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering (or a closely related engineering discipline) from an ABET accredited institution
- Internship, co-op, academic project, or coursework related to electric utility, power systems, substations, transmission, distribution, or generation
- Basic knowledge of power system engineering principles and a strong desire to develop expertise in substation design
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
