Job Summary
Design and construction engineering management of principal public works projects under general supervision. Direct assigned staff while reviewing design plans, specifications, and cost estimates; attend design and construction review meetings to identify and solve constructability issues. Approve plans and specifications for construction contracts and advise City departments on technical engineering matters. Manage Traffic Control Plans, project sequencing, and Time Impact Analysis for safe access. Evaluate consultant fee proposals, review bid packages, and recommend bid acceptances. Assist with budget preparation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college, university, or engineering school approved by a State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers
- Four (4) years' experience in engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) from another state with the ability to obtain a P.E. license in the State of Texas within 6 months of employment
- Valid Class "C" Texas driver's License
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in design and construction project management for streets and drainage projects
- Experience working with or for public agencies and their capital programs
- Ability to take technical concepts and effectively communicate those concepts to a non-technical audience
- Experience working on a team to achieve common goals
