Job Summary

Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration, kitchen, HVAC, and plumbing equipment while performing preventive maintenance on boilers, chillers, and electrical systems. Replace and program televisions, light fixtures, and electronic locks; trace water lines and repair pumps. Execute painting, drywall, and wall covering repairs to maintain property condition with minimal guest inconvenience. Read blueprints and wiring diagrams to complete work in compliance with local, state, and federal codes. Maintain accurate repair and preventive maintenance records. Work flexible hours including on-call rotation, lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally. Maintain a warm, service-oriented demeanor while communicating effectively with all employees and guests.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • experience in a hotel or a related field
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written
  • Must be able to effectively listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs
  • Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives
  • Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas
  • Must be able to effectively handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
  • Must be able to maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Must be able to approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner
  • Must be able to maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Must be able to comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and repair refrigeration equipment
  • Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment
  • Must be able to make repairs to hotel air conditioning system
  • Must be able to perform preventive maintenance on all equipment
  • Must be able to take required readings on equipment
  • Must be able to test cooling tower and record readings
  • Must be able to replace and program televisions as needed
  • Must be able to replace light switches, receptacles, light bulbs and fixtures
  • Must be able to perform furniture repair
  • Must be able to replace and repair pumps
  • Must be able to perform plumbing repairs
  • Must be able to understand and be able to read blueprints and wiring diagrams
  • Must be able to trace and repair all types of water lines
  • Must be able to maintain repair and preventive maintenance records
  • Must be able to perform work to local, state and Federal codes
  • Must be able to paint designated areas
  • Must be able to repair and finish sheet rock
  • Must be able to repair all types of wall coverings
  • Must be able to repair and program hotel electronic lock system
  • Must be able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally
  • Must be able to exert in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently
  • Must be able to exert in excess of 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Must be able to attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
  • Must be able to maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards

Desired Qualifications

  • At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
  • Trade school and/or College course work in related field
