Job Summary
Engineer (f/m/d) at DLR Institute of Maintenance and Modification in Hamburg-Finkenwerder focusing on determining and evaluating maintenance implications of hydrogen-based and fuel cell-powered aircraft concepts. Responsibilities include scientific literature research on prognosis-based maintenance decisions, analysing planned maintenance procedures and spare parts inventory management, extending a Python-based framework for prescriptive maintenance, and carrying out economic impact analyses comparing conventional, hydrogen-powered, and CBM-based concepts. Publishing results at national/international conferences and with project partners; defining system design requirements to reduce challenges for future aircraft generations. Requires a Master-level engineering degree, knowledge of maintenance requirements for aircraft, Python programming, and strong teamwork and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- postgraduate university degree (Master or its equivalent) in engineering (e.g. aerospace engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering) or other fields relevant to the position
- Knowledge of maintenance requirements for commercial aircraft
- Basic knowledge of the technical characteristics of hydrogen systems in aviation
- Sound understanding of the aviation industry and its stakeholders
- Good programming skills, preferably in Python
- Strong problem-solving skills, systematic and structured thinking, and the ability to work in a team
- Very good command of English, German language skills desirable
