Job Summary
Mid-level corporate controls engineer lead role in the global implementation and development of electrical controls systems/designs, PLC/HMI programming, vendor equipment check-out, start-ups, data collection, and optimization of control systems. Requires a Bachelor's in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience) and at least 6 years of manufacturing equipment controls engineering experience. Responsibilities include global support and coordination of equipment installation, interfacing with multiple departments and suppliers, maintaining electrical drawings, and designing/commissioning control systems compliant with corporate standards. Key skills include Rockwell Logix PLCs and HMI programming, AutoCAD for electrical schematics, ControlNet/DeviceNet/Profibus/Ethernet networks, Cognex vision configurations, robotics and motion control knowledge, SQL Server/database experience, and experience with C#/VB.NET/HTML/XML/SQL in multi-tier architectures. The role emphasizes safety, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and global collaboration. Travel: none. Location: OH, United States. Salary range: $80,700–$115,000 annually.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Minimum 6 years of manufacturing equipment controls engineering experience
- Proven experience in controls engineering techniques for global facilities (NA, Asia, Europe)
- Troubleshooting electrical/electronic control systems
- Knowledge of global manufacturing processes and safety requirements
- Proficiency with AutoDesk AutoCAD for electrical schematics and panel layouts
- Proficiency with Rockwell Automation Logix PLCs (ladder logic, function block) and HMI (PanelView, RSView SE)
- Experience designing/commissioning control networks (ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Ethernet)
- Experience with robotic systems and motion control (stepper, servo, AC/DC drives)
- Experience with Cognex vision systems (configuration/programming)
- Knowledge of computer hardware, Microsoft Office; SQL Server database familiarity
- Experience with multi-tier architecture using C#, VB.NET, HTML, XML, SQL
- Understanding of corporate Ethernet architectures and systems
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Safety and compliance awareness
- Ability to interface with multiple departments and external suppliers
- Design, programming, and coordination of small to large control systems
