Job Summary
Design and develop innovative solutions integrating the Warehouse Management System with physical Material Handling Equipment to drive Nordstrom business. Contribute to continuous integration, cloud migration, and test-driven development while driving build and release plans for production deployments. Assist in peer code reviews, manage defect tracking, and transition to support as needed to ensure timely availability. Work with business, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver enhancements and bug fixes, ensuring corporate policies and industry best practices are observed. This role requires a hybrid schedule in Seattle with a minimum 4-day office presence at corporate headquarters. Candidates must have 3+ years of software development experience, proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, and familiarity with Amazon AWS/GCP.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional software development experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent degree
- Knowledge of Java and Java Springboot framework
- Experience with Backend Database (preferably Spanner) or NoSQL or Postgres databases
- Experience with RESTful architecture and Microservices
- Experience with Amazon AWS/GCP
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Experience working with diverse, collaborative, cross-functional teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to persuade inspire and motivate others
- Candidates must be available to work in office at the Nordstrom corporate headquarters a minimum of 4 days/week
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of other programming languages (like Python, React , JavaScript, C#)
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and a strong point of view on how agents can accelerate design, coding, and testing workflows
- A strong desire to automate everything
- A strong grasp of multiple tech stacks
- Experience with messaging middleware (Kafka, SQS)
- Experience with writing services as well as consuming services using REST, SOAP, XML, JSON or any combination
- Emphasis on building metrics into the system and providing visibility on uptime and performance via real time alerting, reporting, and dashboards
- Have your stylistic preferences when it comes to code but understand the discipline it takes to keep the source code maintainable
- You dislike hearing the words "It has always been done this way" and are curious about why things are done the way they are today
- You love troubleshooting issues and know what it takes to get your code to Production if the Zombie apocalypse hits and the rest of the team is unavailable
