Job Summary
Conduct repairs on hotel air conditioning systems, including filter changes, coil cleaning, and motor replacements. Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, chillers, electrical equipment, and pumps while taking required readings and testing cooling towers. Execute plumbing repairs for clogged drains and pipe issues, replace light fixtures and receptacles, and troubleshoot kitchen equipment. Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal codes. Test, clean, and repair swimming pools and spas, and perform painting, drywall, and wall covering repairs. Read blueprints and wiring diagrams to trace and repair water lines, and replace or program televisions and electronic locks. Work flexible hours to meet hotel needs, maintaining high standards of personal appearance and service orientation.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- experience in a hotel or a related field
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly courteouse and service oriented manner
- Must be able to effectively listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Must be able to approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner
- Must maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
- Must maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag
- Must comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
- Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives
- Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
- Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs
Desired Qualifications
- At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
- Trade school and/or College course work in related field
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required
