Job Summary
Maintain and manage the Ventilation system at the Stillwater Mine, ensuring adherence to standards, policies, and mine legislation regarding contaminants and gases. Conduct quarterly ventilation surveys for air quality, volumes, and pressure, compiling data for workforce and management. Perform ventilation simulations to optimize the system, mitigate leakage, and improve infrastructure, while incorporating smart technology to enhance efficiencies. Model, plan, and schedule ventilation projects, providing annual refresher training to the workforce. Participate in emergency responses during mine fires and collaborate with mine planning, survey, geology, maintenance, and operations teams for continuous improvement. Troubleshoot and diagnose problems swiftly within a team-based environment.
Required Qualifications
- Leadership qualities including character, teamwork, communication, business sense and vision
- Familiarity with mine ventilation principles
- Strong computer skills in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
- Basic understanding of MSHA regulations
- Proven ability to work within a team-based environment
- Working knowledge and experience with mine modelling software
- Working knowledge and understanding of cost and schedule variance
- BS in Mine Engineering or equivalent with 1-5 years engineering experience or 7-8 years equivalent working experience

- Working knowledge of ventilation modelling software
