Job Summary
Conduct professional-level technical and administrative engineering work to ensure activities comply with state and District rules, including transferring construction permits to the operation phase and addressing violations or unauthorized activities. Coordinate with Regulatory Support staff and the ERP Evaluation Section to evaluate, plan, and complete water-related projects while traveling to site meetings in designated counties. Participate in ERP Bureau projects under the direction of the Compliance Manager and support emergency management operations before, during, and after major storm events or declared emergencies. Perform duties in remote, undeveloped field areas requiring operation of motorized vehicles, including off-road conditions, with potential exposure to adverse weather and elements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Valid driver's license
- Two (2) years related work experience
- Four (4) years related work experience
- Valid Florida Professional Engineer license
- Must live in Florida
- Must be able to bend, lift, carry, and reach above shoulder level
- Must be able to operate a motorized vehicle for extended periods
- Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds
- Must be able to perform continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding and driving) with one or both hands and feet
- Must be available for call-in outside of regularly scheduled work hours, or required to be on call, including on nights, weekends or holidays
- Must be able to travel to site meetings in designated District counties
- Must be able to travel using District vehicle within the District's coverage area
- Must be able to work in remote and undeveloped areas of the District
- Must be able to work under adverse weather conditions
- Must be able to be exposed to extremes in elements, temperature and humidity
- Must be able to be exposed to a variety of pests, including mosquitoes and ticks
- Must be able to perform duties before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies
