Job Summary
Perform major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on vessel engines and mechanical equipment under the supervision of the Engineer in charge; carry out daily maintenance and cleaning of engines; lead by example in health and safety compliance; ensure correct use of PPE, chemicals, safety devices, and adherence to safety and pollution regulations; provide installation and breakdown services and support technical loading during provisioning and ship operations; maintain the engine room and machinery areas, keep supervisors informed of progress and any defects, and support general maintenance tasks (cleanup, painting, repairs); demonstrate proficiency in hydraulics, engine operation, and related systems, with strong attention to safety, discipline, and teamwork; communicate effectively in English with guests and crew; willing to work irregular schedules and live in close quarters as required by shipboard life; expected to uphold company, Public Health, National and International standards and participate in crew safety drills.
Required Qualifications
- Valid STCW 95 certification
- Valid ASE Certification A-III/5
- Good knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, operation and maintenance of vessel machinery
- Experience with stripping engines down and rebuilding
- Experience on vessels in an equivalent position
- Physically and medically fit
- Moral integrity
- Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical)
