Job Summary
Provide street outreach, engagement activities, crisis intervention, and clinical assessment to adults experiencing homelessness with mental health and co-occurring substance use needs. Operate within a client-centered, harm-reduction, Housing First framework, engaging with individuals in public spaces, drop-in centers, meal sites, and shelters. Facilitate linkage to housing resources, treatment, and additional community services while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local housing programs and resources and collaborating with service providers and organizations. Demonstrate familiarity with challenges related to homelessness, substance use, mental illness, and trauma; perform outreach and engagement, crisis intervention, and counseling, along with concrete support such as providing warm clothing, blankets, and food to reduce risk of harm on the streets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in the Healing Arts or Education
- 1 year experience working with adults with mental illness and knowledge of homelessness
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license
- Master’s degree in the Healing Arts or Education a plus
