Job Summary
Coordinate and deliver Trees for Cities' engagement programmes through innovative activities that inspire people to plant, protect, and promote urban trees across London parks, schools, and community spaces. Conduct on-site and digital consultations with residents and local groups to gather feedback for tree planting projects, while planning and executing educational workshops, tree planting events, and food growing sessions for schools and the public. Collaborate with internal teams to design high-quality resources, manage logistics including vendor coordination and safe equipment storage, and collect project data for evaluation. Ensure inclusive and accessible delivery of events aligned with E,D&I policies and tree equity focus. This hybrid role requires regular weekend work, particularly Saturdays during autumn and winter planting seasons, and involves outdoor activities in all weather conditions. A valid UK driving license is required.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent organisational skills, including experience of planning, coordinating and delivering multiple projects concurrently
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of audiences
- Confidence in speaking to members of the public
- Experience of delivering workshops or outreach activities
- Experience of working with children and young people
- Active knowledge / interest in trees, horticulture and greening cities
- Comfortable leading tree planting activities
- IT literacy – Experience and confidence using cloud-based workspaces (such as Google or Microsoft): Documents, spreadsheets, virtual meetings, presentations, etc
- IT literacy – Experience/familiarity using digital forms, design, email marketing, and project management software
- Valid clean UK driving license – confident driver
- Able to prioritise and effectively time manage their own and others' tasks, working to targets and deadlines
- A positive approach and the ability to cope with flexibility and change
- Effective, clear communicator with respectful interpersonal skills
- Comfortable and willing to work outdoors and in all weather conditions
- Comfortable coordinating the work of colleagues and volunteers at events
- Willing and able to comply with manual handling best practice (loading, lifting, carrying, etc)
- Able to work on weekends as required (you will be expected to attend up to 10 community planting days on weekends in autumn and winter - with TOIL)
- An understanding of basic Health and Safety and Safeguarding and how to work safely
- Valid a right to work in the UK
Desired Qualifications
- Qualifications and / or experience in any of the following fields will be an advantage: teaching, geography, social sciences, coordinating volunteers and events, practical environmental work
- Able to work efficiently and calmly within a busy team and fast-paced working environment
