Job Summary
Engagement and Communications Officer, First Nations responsible for delivering culturally appropriate communications and engagement initiatives to support the Pro Vice Chancellor, First Nations portfolio. Develop and deliver communications and materials for community-led outreach, coordinate messaging and storytelling to promote First Nations programs, support outreach events (e.g. Birak, Deadly Dreaming), manage procurement/stocking of engagement uniforms and branded materials, and collaborate with the Engagement and Outreach Lead and School Relationships Officer to support coordinated engagement activities. Role emphasizes Indigenous engagement, community relationships, and senior-level coordination within Murdoch University. Requires experience in community engagement and culturally appropriate practices, strong written communication, and the ability to work with diverse communities; includes criminal record and working with children checks. Full-time role (37.5 hours/week) in Perth, WA, Australia with a salary range of $91,000–$98,000 (pro rata) plus superannuation, benefits, and visa sponsorship not available. Required Qualifications
- Relevant qualification or experience in community engagement, communications, marketing or a related field
- Experience in community engagement with a strong understanding of culturally appropriate engagement practices, including respectful storytelling and communication with diverse communities
- Ability to coordinate communications and/or events across varied audiences
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging content
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships
