Job Summary
Support the Monitoring Analysis Response Center to enable data-driven decisions for the transmission system. Coordinate with AEP SCC, Distribution Dispatching Centers, Transmission Field Services, and Transmission Control Centers; notify stakeholders during emergencies; monitor real-time system health alarms and voltage, real/reactive power flows; assist in directing switching operations, prepare basic switching orders, and ensure safety during maintenance or construction. Responsibilities include monitoring SCADA and metering/communications facilities, maintaining event logs, staying aligned with PRC002/PRC004/TPL007, monitoring weather for severe conditions, and assisting in restoring service during outages. Requires a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience, valid driver license, SO/PD test, and ability to work twelve-hour rotating shifts; salary range $74,551–$99,401 per year. Potential for travel and adherence to safety procedures; candidate should be able to communicate clearly and work under pressure in a high-stakes environment.
Required Qualifications
- Two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field OR High School and 2 years of experience in a position that demonstrates the ability to operate a power system
- Valid state driver license
- Must pass System Operator/Power Dispatching (SO/PD) test
- Ability to work twelve-hour uninterrupted rotating shift schedule (nights, weekends, holidays)
- Ability to analyze information and communicate instructions clearly and concisely
