Job Summary

Senior Utilities Infrastructure Engineer within WSP's Development team, leading engagement with clients and advising on multi-utility constraints to deliver masterplanning, coordination and design of utility infrastructure for projects ranging from local schemes to nationally significant developments. Responsibilities include leading multidisciplinary teams in the UK and internationally, driving project and commercial delivery, mentoring staff, maintaining high-quality client relationships, and supporting business growth. Flexible working out of UK offices with base location in Edinburgh area.

Required Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer or open/working towards Chartered Engineer status
  • Civil Engineering Degree, or similar equivalent qualification
  • Experience delivering utility connections, diversions and utility infrastructure strategies for small, medium and large schemes in the UK
  • Rounded understanding of Electricity, Gas, Water, and Telecommunications networks, in relation to new development activities
  • Experience of Multi-Utility / iDNO (independent Distribution Network Operators) / ICP (Independent Connection Provider) and commercial risk/opportunities
  • Ability to develop utility demand calculations based on the needs of a development
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage and work on multiple projects concurrently and effectively organise your time and your project teams between them
  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with co-professionals and deliver high quality reports
  • Experience in directing BIM teams (AutoCAD / Civils 3D / Revit etc) in their production of quality project models and design outputs
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Must be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC)
  • All staff are encouraged and assisted to progress their training towards Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the ICE, or equivalent Engineering organisations; and staff will benefit from internal and external training opportunities provided.
