Job Summary
Conduct residential energy inspections, diagnostic testing, and field evaluations in accordance with RESNET standards and company procedures. Collect and document inspection data, perform blower door and HVAC airflow testing, and prepare detailed reports. Communicate findings professionally with builders, contractors, and internal team members while maintaining inspection tools and documentation. Travel regularly throughout the Charlottesville, Richmond, and Hampton Roads service areas using a provided company vehicle. Work Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM with occasional overtime as needed. No prior HERS certification required; training and mentorship provided to obtain RESNET Rating Field Inspector certification.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with builders, contractors, and team members
- Ability to follow established procedures and standards while working effectively with appropriate training and supervision
- Ability to learn and apply technical information, testing procedures, and applicable standards
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and demonstrate attention to detail
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and other required software
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and use hands to handle tools and testing equipment
- Ability to use ladders and safely operate common hand and power tools
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to work additional hours as needed
- Must be comfortable traveling throughout the assigned service area
- Must be comfortable working at a variety of residential construction sites and homes
- Ability to identify and resolve problems effectively
- Ability to maintain strong organization and attention to detail
