Job Summary
Energy Market Advisor focused on power market modeling, IRP and strategic advisory to utilities, system operators, and project developers. You will develop and maintain advanced power market models (PLEXOS and similar), conduct capacity expansion planning, nodal price and congestion analyses, and perform scenario analyses to guide client strategy. You’ll translate large datasets into actionable insights using Python, Excel, R, and SQL; build internal tools; deliver client-ready reports and presentations; and manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments. The role requires strong communication, energy market depth, and the ability to oversee advisory engagements from concept through execution across generation, transmission, and energy technologies; and involves 25% travel. The position is remote with support across the U.S. and internationally.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Energy Systems, Engineering, Finance/Economics or related field
- 7+ years of experience in energy market modeling, utility planning or infrastructure advisory
- Strong experience with PLEXOS or similar power system modeling tools
- Experience with electricity markets (ISO/RTO structures such as ERCOT, PJM, MISO)
- Understanding of financial instruments underpinning financial analysis
- Knowledge of financial theory (CAPM, WACC)
