Job Summary
Energetics Chemist at Thales Mulwala site (Australia): design and develop energetic formulations meeting safety, performance, and integration requirements from prototype to full-scale production; develop analytical techniques to support formulation design; specify and design manufacturing processes for energetic materials; interpret test results for safety and performance; identify customer requirements to deliver optimal energetic solutions; prepare technical documentation and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team within a defence-focused environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Chemistry, or relevant discipline
- Eligible for Engineers Australia membership or equivalent
- Experience in energetics product safety, risk assessments, and permits
- Skilled in designing and interpreting test programs for energetic materials, including raw material characterisation
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus
- Security clearance is required for this role; applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance
