Job Summary
Clean, disinfect, and maintain all endoscopy equipment with patient safety as the top priority according to SGNA Standards of Practice. Setup selected equipment and supplies for GI procedures, troubleshoot malfunctions, and assist the physician and RN during technical procedures. Perform timely checks, anticipate needs, and report any actual or potential problems immediately. Restock procedure rooms, clean after each patient, and assist with chargeable supplies to ensure accurate capture. Maintain current BLS certification to assist in emergencies. Requires high school diploma, one year of endoscopy experience, and relevant certifications.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies
- 1+ years of Endoscopy Experience
- Requires the ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department
- Heavy work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or up to 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and or up to 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects
- Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances
Desired Qualifications
- Certification - Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associations, Inc. (SGNA) Certification
- Accredited University or accredited training professionals
- Keeping BLS current and being able to assist if needed in an emergency as evidenced by observation and feedback
- Setup selected equipment and supplies for Endoscopy procedures as evidenced by observation and has basic problem-solving knowledge of all Endoscopy equipment and can troubleshoot during malfunction as evidenced by observation and feedback
