Endoscopy Technician

Endoscopy Technician at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital provides technical support and patient care in endoscopic procedures under physician and RN supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with EGD, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, and ERCP; position patients, support comfort and reduce pre-procedure anxiety; connect EKG leads, insert bite blocks, place grounding pads, and assist with endoscope insertion and handling to maintain proper mucosal visualization; prepare the endoscopy suite per physician preferences; set up scopes and labeling, ensure adequate air insufflation/irrigation and video quality; process tissue and bodily fluids specimens and deliver to lab; select and operate instruments (biopsy forceps, polypectomy snares, hemostatic clips, cautery probes, retrieval nets) as directed; perform high-level disinfection and room decontamination; maintain GI procedure area and supplies; operate software to select patient/procedure; apply safe lifting techniques and work under minimal supervision in a high-stress environment; requires critical thinking and decisive judgment; no licensure required.
