Job Summary
Prepare procedure rooms for endoscopic procedures, assist with patient transfer, and position patients appropriately. Assemble necessary equipment including scopes and instruments, troubleshoot computer and equipment issues, and collect, record, and label tissue samples. Maintain, clean, and disinfect endoscopes and accessories using an automated scope washing system, while changing disinfection solutions, filters, and log paper as needed. Assist physicians with hemostatic instruments and ensure proper airway protection during upper endoscopic procedures. Perform these duties under the direction of physicians and nurses while maintaining stock of instruments and supplies.
Required Qualifications
- Equivalent to high school plus additional specialized training
- Three to twelve months' experience
- Knowledge of patient care, endoscopy procedures and basic GI anatomy
- Must be flexible with scheduling needs
- Must be able to work independently and work well in teams
- Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion and communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience as an Endoscopy Technician
- Surgical Instrument technician or Central Sterile Technician experience
