Job Summary
Assist physicians with endoscopic procedures, provide correct instrumentation, and maintain aseptic technique to ensure patient safety. Prepare the room and equipment, handle specimens, and sterilize instruments while serving as a patient advocate under nursing supervision. Manage time to facilitate the schedule, attend departmental meetings, and participate in improvement projects. Perform required sitter duties after completing designated training and maintain regular attendance. Complete mandatory education and follow all hospital policies. Requires ability to stand and sit for 8 to 10 hours, lift up to 40 lbs, and work under pressure with near 100% accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Sterile conscious
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS
- Must be self-motivated
- Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard
- Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines
- Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing
- Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs
- Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces
Desired Qualifications
- Certificates in medical assisting or surgical technology
