Job Summary
Provide individualized and specialized nursing care to patients within the endoscopy center in accordance with physician orders, recognized nursing techniques, legal aspects of current nurse practice in the State of Georgia, and center policies. Plan, execute, and evaluate nursing care given to patients while performing functions delegated and assigned by the Registered Nurse. Supervise the Endoscopy Center in the absence of the Charge Nurse with a registered nurse on site. Maintain Basic Cardiac Life Support certification and complete the required Airway Management Module prior to administering IV conscious sedation. Work independently in uncomplicated situations or assist the Registered Nurse in complex scenarios while cross-training to perform other tasks in the center.
Required Qualifications
- Current State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Membership in GI specialty or other local, state, or national professional societies encouraged
- Maintains Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
- Completion of Airway Management Module is required prior to administering IV conscious sedation
- Score of 100% on conscious sedation module post-test
- Must be self-directed and able to work independently
- Ability to work under stress
- Good visual acuity
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl
- Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel sensation to discern temperature, texture, size, and shape
- Ability to lift and carry of items weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work in one of the other Endoscopy Centers
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in GI endoscopy preferred
- ACLS certification is recommended, but optional
