Job Summary
Investigate and determine the service life of building enclosure assemblies by assessing systems, reviewing air infiltration, rain water control, heat transfer, and vapor transmission. Perform field investigations including non-destructive testing, observe construction and installation of repairs, and conduct quality assurance testing. Design and draft repair drawings, prepare construction documents, and analyze proposed repair options using performance modeling software. Assist the Project Manager with tasks, research building codes, write assessment reports, and prepare site visit reports. Interact with project clients, sub-consultants, and contractors. Requires a Registered Architect or P.E. license and experience in building enclosure design and retrofit.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Architectural Engineering or Architecture in Building Science/Building Enclosures/ Historic Preservation
- Registered Architect or P.E. license
- Experience in building enclosure design, repair, retrofit and the integrated design and delivery of high performance buildings
- Microsoft Office (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT)
- Computer Aided Drafting/Design (AUTOCAD, REVIT, Rhino, Grasshopper)
- Experience with working on suspended scaffolding and vertical heights
Desired Qualifications
- Masters degree
- A technical background in CADD and building performance modeling software
- A sound technical background
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience with building performance modeling, software (ECOTECT, VASARI, ENERGYPLUS, EQUEST, DESIGNBUILDER, DIVA, IES-VE, THERM, WUFI)
- Familiarity with exterior wall systems
- Familiarity with roofing assemblies
- Familiarity with building structural systems
