Job Summary
Conduct physical examinations, establish medical histories, and evaluate donor suitability while building rapport to ensure customer satisfaction. Manage donor injuries, administer counseling for unacceptable test results, and oversee the Hepatitis vaccine program. Provide donor education regarding general health and ensure confidentiality for both donors and staff. Perform evaluations of illness or medication history to maintain donor eligibility. Assist in employee training and maintain donor awareness regarding potential hazards. Work in a plasma donation center with exposure to biological fluids and electrical equipment, requiring standing, sitting, and light lifting capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- EMT- Basic, EMT- Advanced or Paramedic certification
- Current CPR certification
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements
- Ability to make precise coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects
- Color perception/discrimination
- Near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Hearing acuity
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to work independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to handle exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
- Ability to handle exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to handle exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear
- Ability to work standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist of neck up from 1 to 2 hours per day
- Ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
- Ability to make frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch or sit on one's heels on rare occasion
- Ability to occasionally walk, bend and twist at waist
- Ability to lift 15lbs with a maximum lift of 50lbs
- Ability to reach below shoulder height
