Job Summary
Operate emergency vehicles safely while ensuring assigned ambulances and equipment remain stocked, clean, and maintained for immediate use. Respond to BLS non-emergent transfers and assist in patient assessments to deliver pre-hospital care, including splinting, oxygen administration, and supporting paramedics with advanced procedures. Communicate effectively with medical staff, maintain accurate documentation, and act as a patient advocate in a professional environment. Adhere to universal precautions, dress code, and attendance standards while completing mandatory training and continuing education. Work part-time shifts from 10am to 10:30pm, 24 hours per week, within the Mercy Health System.
Required Qualifications
- Current EMT license for the state of employment
- Valid driver's license
- Must be at least 19 years old
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- Hazmat Awareness certification
- NIMS 100 certification
- NIMS 200 certification
- NIMS 700 certification
- NIMS 800 certification
- Unimpaired mobility
- Correctable vision and color acuity
- Ability to hear and understand patient information, radio traffic, and environmental sounds in high-stress situations
- Ability to speak clearly and audibly in loud or stressful conditions
- Successful completion of pre-hire and annual fitness-for-duty tests
- Ability to work varying shifts and schedules
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- ITLS or equivalent training
