Job Summary
Respond to emergency calls within five minutes or less, providing basic life support and adhering to state Department of Health Standards and ambulance protocols. Demonstrate sound judgment in stress situations while maintaining effective communication with patients, customers, and the healthcare team. Perform duties in rotating day/evening/night/weekend shifts, including mandatory weekend coverage, while utilizing the sleep room when on call. Maintain active EMT licensure and apply Avera's core values of compassion and stewardship to ensure patient safety and team efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Drivers License - Licensing Board
- Emergency Medical Technician - Licensing Board active in the state of practice
- visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
- ability to communicate effectively with others
- ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds
- ability to work the hours specified
- ability to perform each essential job function satisfactorily
