Job Summary
Assist patients to exam rooms, obtain vital signs, and record patient history per protocols. Admit patients, measure height, weight, and blood pressure, and apply aseptic technique during examinations and procedures. Collect and process specimens, perform CLIA-waived tests, electrocardiography, respiratory testing, and phlebotomy. Maintain examination rooms, manage inventory, and make appointments and referrals as directed. Complies with risk management, safety, and quality assurance practices while serving as a communication liaison between providers and patients. Recognizes and responds to emergencies. Requires CPR certification, CMA certification within one year, and two years of clinical experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as paramedic or emergency medical technician
- CPR certified
- Successful completion of a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Training verification as a MA
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to deliver medical services and use equipment
- Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues, contagious diseases and/or other potentially hazardous materials
- Fine motor coordination sufficient to perform manipulative skills
- Moderate physical exertion including frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching and carrying moderately heavy loads (up to 25 lbs.)
Desired Qualifications
- Successful completion of testing
- Two (2) years of successful experience in a clinical setting
- Ability to speak and write fluently in English; Spanish desirable
