Job Summary
Provide emergency medical services by completing department-specific education, applying cardiac monitors, and recognizing emergencies to initiate appropriate responses. Perform procedures and treatments according to EMS standards and department protocols, while documenting all actions and observations. Positively support and contribute to departmental development by participating in meetings and training sessions. Requires Basic Life Support and EMT certifications within 90 days of hire, along with a valid driver's license and Ambulance Driver Certification.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Driver's License - State
- EMT Certificate - South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners
- Ambulance Driver Certification - South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners
- Ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department
- Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects
- Possibility of exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances
Desired Qualifications
- 1+ years of Emergency Medical Technician Experience
- Advanced EMT Certificate - South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners
