Job Summary
Conduct physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability for plasma donation. Build rapport with donors, provide education on general health, and counsel regarding unacceptable test results. Evaluate and manage donor injuries, adverse events, and histories of illness or medications to ensure continued donor safety. Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program and assist in staff training while ensuring donor and staff confidentiality. Perform evaluations of potential hazards and maintain donor awareness. This role involves standing or sitting for up to four hours daily with light lifting to 50 lbs. Candidates must be licensed as an EMT-B, A, Paramedic, LPN/LVN, or RN with current CPR certification. Required Qualifications
- EMT-B or A or PARAMEDIC or LPN/LVN
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocation Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
- Current CPR certification
- Hearing acuity
- Color perception/discrimination
- Near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to work independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to handle exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
- Ability to handle exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to handle exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear
