Job Summary
Conduct physical examinations, establish medical histories, and evaluate donor suitability for plasma donation centers. Build rapport with donors, ensure confidentiality, and provide education on health and counseling for unacceptable test results. Evaluate and manage donor injuries, adverse events, and employee training while administering the Hepatitis Vaccine program. Perform duties in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, electrical equipment, and extreme cold below 32 degrees F. Requires standing or sitting for 2 to 4 hours daily, bending/twisting up to 2 hours, and light lifting up to 50 lbs. Bilingual in Spanish and holds current EMT, Paramedic, or LVN licensure with CPR certification. Required Qualifications
- EMT Basic or Advanced
- Paramedic
- LVN
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as an EMT, Paramedic or LVN
- Current CPR certification
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Light lifting of 15lbs. with a maximum lift of 50lbs.
- Hearing acuity essential
- Color perception/discrimination
- near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Works independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
- Able to perform a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
- Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while performing functions in plasma freezers
- Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear
