Job Summary
Assess patients, administer basic life support, and transport individuals for emergent and non-emergent medical services while adhering to statewide protocols. Operate the ambulance safely, complete daily vehicle and equipment checklists, and ensure compliance with stock and cleanliness requirements. Accurately document patient care and submit required paperwork and PCR documentation daily. Maintain active MA EMT certification, BLS/CPR credentials, and a valid driver's license, while attending all mandated training functions. Perform daily housekeeping duties at assigned bases and communicate effectively with patients, agencies, and medical personnel.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Current MA Basic EMT certification in good standing by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Health (DPH), Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS)
- Current BLS / CPR healthcare provider level certification, including SAED Authorization
- Current valid driver's license
- 0-1 years related work experience
- Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
- Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine
- Ability to exercise sound judgment while working in a stressful environment
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to meet the essential duties and physical, mental and sensory requirements of the position at all times
- Comply with UDS drug screening at any and all times
- Satisfactory background check and MA CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), verification required annually
- Verification of an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, verification required annually
- Ability to lift and maneuver 125+ pounds with assistance and without difficulty
- Ability to ascend/descend stairs repeatedly and the ability to lift and carry 125+ pounds up and down stairs
- Ability to frequently use fingers, hands and arms to reach, handle and/or operate equipment, objects, tools or controls
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to walk without difficulty and without affecting the immediate performance of job-related duties
- Ability to bend, stoop and crawl as necessary
- Ability to occasionally work in low light and confined spaces
- Ability to work within a mobile environment
- Ability to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry conditions
- Ability to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials
Desired Qualifications
- 2-4 Years of prior experience
- Previous driving experience in a commercial setting a plus
