Job Summary
EMT-Basic role in Lexington Transport (FT) performing basic life support and patient transport in pre-hospital settings. Administers emergency procedures (defibrillation, medications, extrication as needed) and provides trauma and cardiac support in 911 responses. Maintains patient records, coordinates with physicians/command center, ensures continuing education to meet VA standards, and adheres to agency safety and driving requirements. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, Virginia EMT certification, and BLS-HCP certification with HAZMAT awareness and PHTLS/BTLS within one year of hire; driving record must be kept current. Provides patient care and supports EMS operations in a full-time capacity.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Must be certified as an Emergency Medical Technician in the State of Virginia
- AHA BLS - HCP required
- HAZMAT Awareness and PHTLS or BTLS Basic required within one year of hire date
